Current world number 2, Rafael Nadal spoke about the way he wants to be remembered in the future as Spaniard is getting older and knows he will need to stop playing professionally soon.

During his career, Rafael Nadal managed to win 19 Grand Slam titles. His last triumph was at the 2019 US Open. Recently, Nadal has won the title at Abierto Mexicano in Acapulco and he spoke about the offers he is getting from numerous tournaments.
The Spaniard knows he is getting older by each day spent on the tour and that his career will need to end soon or later. Therefore, he needs to think about where he will play to distribute his powers throughout the season evenly. Nadal also said he wants to be remembered more as a good role-model rather than a player who managed to win a lot of titles.
"Numerous tournaments have indeed contacted me about joining the field but things are different than in the past. To play, I have to be ready both physically and mentally; no one has unlimited batteries. When you are young, you have plenty of energy. But now you have to make decisions that sometimes you don't like and skip tournaments that you would love to play."
"In the future, I do not want to be remembered as a tennis player with numerous titles; but the one who has left a good example for boys and girls; it is my only objective. If one thing I wish I could say that I have done well is that I have transmitted positive stuff on and off the court; something that makes me very satisfied."
