Dominic Thiem spoke about how he spends his time in the quarantine and how he sees the whole ATP Tour suspension.
After winning 5 titles in 2019, Thiem started the 2020 season in a similar manner. The Austrian moved to his career-high 3rd place
after reaching the final at the Australian Open. Now, Dominic spoke to the media about how he sees the current situation.
“You are 100 percent physically fit, feel ready, but do not know when it will start again. According to the plan we start again in the middle of July. Hopefully, everything will be fine. I miss the challenges, the comparison battle. There are no major disadvantages for me. The points were frozen. There is no such long pause in the ATP Tour calendar, but the training options are currently very limited. I am actually alone at home, keep myself a bit fit with fitness,” said Thiem.
“I am sure that we will learn from this difficult period. We will realize that globalization has been extreme. Everything has become big and fast. I hope we will become more responsible in the future. In times like these, the most important thing is that everybody stays at home and helps keeping others healthy. I try to keep myself busy with working out at home and I also improved my FIFA football skills a lot. We are playing in a group of 14 friends and I am enjoying it. I am experiencing the quietest time of my life. No structured training, no pressure, no flying around. No sporting tasks. Even when I was a teenager, I had so little stress." Thiem said.
