Nick Kyrgios will not play the return of the
Ultimate Tennis Showdown in Los Angeles this weekend but will be there and in a new role.
Kyrgios' injury to his right wrist that he suffered ahead of Wimbledon has ruled him out of this weekend's UTS but he will coach Frances Tiafoe.
He has since been replaced by Benoit Paire, another of tennis' big entertainers and already hinted that he would take part in some capacity.
“I will still be coming to LA and the UTS event,” he said in a statement on Tuesday.
He added: “Maybe I’ll coach… any suggestions?”
With Tiafoe's longtime coach, Wayne Ferreira unable to make it and on-court interactions with the coaches being a focal point of the tournament, they have now elected to join forces.
A bizarre move as sorts due to Kyrgios' decision to remain uncoached for so long.
