A total of five matches will be played during the four days of Opening Week. On Tuesday, two-time Australian Open champion Naomi Osaka will face Emma Raducanu. The second day will showcase local talent Alex De Minaur, who is in excellent form and will go up against world No. 2 Carlos Alcaraz.
Thursday will be the only day with two matches for fans. First, the 10-times Aussie Open champion Novak Djokovic will make his return to Melbourne, facing Stefanos Tsitsipas, a rematch of the 2023 tournament final (won by 'Nole' 6-3, 7-6, 7-6). In the second match, the reigning champion Aryna Sabalenka will take on Maria Sakkari.
Finally, on Friday, Carlos Alcaraz will hit the court again. Having not played many matches in the early weeks of the year, he will this time face the three-time Grand Slam finalist Casper Ruud, reprising the 2022 US Open final where the Spaniard claimed his first Grand Slam title.
The Opening Week will also include some open practices and a kids tennis day where attendees can interact with some of the ATP and WTA stars. The organizers will also offer more promotional activities and events to encourage the Australian audience to closely experience another edition of the tournament.
