Naomi Osaka is set to have Netflix produce a documentary series about her. The docuseries will centre on her progress from last year's US Open to the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan.
Osaka is relishing the opportunity to participate in the summer Olympic games. The event takes place in the capital of her homeland and she will be hoping to strike gold.
The documentary will not only chronicle Osaka's tennis progress. It will also explore the multicultural heritage of the two time Grand Slam winner. Osaka is of Japanese, American and Haitian heritage.
The former world no 1 is excited about the docuseries. And she said it won't look like a traditional sport documentary.
“To be able to tell my story and let people in during this big year and working with a team that really understands me, has been a rewarding experience. It won’t look like a traditional sports documentary. And I’m so excited to share it with everyone,” Osaka said in a statement.
American filmmaker Garrett Bradley will direct the docuseries. Bradley's short film ‘Alone’ had an Academy Award nomination.
Away from filming, the current world no 10 will be looking to bounce back from her third round defeat to Coco Gauff in the Australian Open.
Osaka will return to action at the Indian Wells on March 9th.
