Kei Nishikori is another player that will miss at least some part of this year's US swing as he pulled out of Western & Southern Open due to testing positive for COVID-19.
It is very likely that the 2014
US Open finalist,
Kei Nishikori will also miss the Grand Slam tournament where he was the most successful. The US Open begins shortly after the Western & Southern Open after which he withdrew due to testing positive for COVID-19. It still remains a question if Nishikori will play in Flushing Meadows this year, but definitely not at the tournament relocated from Cincinnati.
“I have some unfortunate news today. This morning whilst still in Florida, I got tested for COVID-19 and tested positive,” a statement from Nishikori reads. “I will have to pull out of the Cincinnati tournament (relocated to New York this year) at this time. Me and my team will get tested again on Friday at which point I will have another update. I am feeling well and have very little symptoms but will obviously be in complete isolation for the safety of everyone.”
