Novak Djokovic after being allowed to enter Australia to play and win the Australian Open does not have as smooth passage at least until May to play any events in the USA.
But that may change with Djokovic's brother Djordje telling Serbian news agency Tanjug as per Tennis Majors on Friday that he has delivered the necessary documentation as he aims to play next months'
Indian Wells and Miami also known as the Sunshine Double.
“Unfortunately, it is something that is out of our hands,” he told Tanjug. “Novak needs to get a special permission to enter, considering that the USA still doesn’t let unvaccinated foreigners into the country, which is unbelievable, considering that we have seen big sporting manifestations with unvaccinated athletes throughout the world.”
Previously Tommy Haas hoped Djokovic could join the tournament and branded his potential omission a 'disgrace' but he could yet receive special permission to play. Currently with these measures being lifted in May, he can play the US Open later this year though.
