Sky Sports
has confirmed its lineup of presenters for the
US Open, including Martina
Navratilova,
Tim Henman, Marion Bartoli, and
Feliciano Lopez.
With two
months to go until the 2023 US Open, the broadcasting team for Sky Sports has
been announced, with former tennis players Tim Henman (former world No. 4) and
Martina Navratilova (former world No. 1 and 18-time Grand Slam champion)
leading the coverage. Gigi Salmon, who has extensive experience in media
outlets such as Talksport and BBC Sport, will serve as the main presenter.
The last
Grand Slam of the year will take place from August 28th to September 10th, with
the world's top tennis players vying to lift the trophy that was won last year
by young stars
Carlos Alcaraz and
Iga Swiatek, both of whom currently hold the
world No. 1 ranking in the ATP and WTA, respectively.
Sky Sports
recently signed a contract to broadcast the US Open until 2023, and it is
speculated that they may have also secured a similar deal for the rights to the
ATP and WTA tours.
Several
tennis players and former players will be serving as commentators for the US
Open, including Feliciano Lopez, who played his final tournament as a
professional at the Mallorca Open this week.
Johanna
Konta, who retired in 2021, will also be present, along with 2013 Wimbledon
champion Marion Bartoli. Other notable names include
Jamie Murray,
Laura Robson,
Jordanne Whiley, Emma Paton, Karthi Gnaanasegaram, and Jonathan Overend.
Annabel
Croft and Greg Rusedski won’t be part of this year's broadcasting team.
With Sky
Sports' confirmation for television broadcasting, Amazon Sports will end its
contract with the ATP and WTA, making it unlikely for them to continue
broadcasting the tour. Consequently, Sky Sports is expected to announce soon
that it will be replacing Amazon for the year-round coverage.
