Iga Swiatek defeated Kaja Juvan 6-0, 6-1 in the third round of the US Open.
World No. 1 Swiatek has continued her strong run at Flushing Meadows with another commanding victory. The Polish player previously dropped just one game in her first-round match against Rebecca Peterson, winning 6-0, 6-1 before going on to defeat Australia's Daria Saville in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4.
Slovenian player Juvan made it through qualifiers before defeating 29th seed Elisabetta Cocciaretto 6-2, 7-5 in the opening round. She then took out home player Lauren Davis 6-7 (3), 6-4, 6-3, to set up the third-round clash with Swiatek.

Swiatek dominates match from start to finish

It was yet another hot day in New York, but this did not seem to affect Swiatek at all. The 22-year-old didn't drop a single game in the first set, completing the bagel in under half an hour.
It looked as though she was set for a double bagel as she moved to 3-0 in the second set, before Juvan finally won a service game after 40 minutes of play. The crowd cheered her on, and the Slovenian player smiled at the small positive in a game that Swiatek had been dominating from start to finish.
This did not set Swiatek back though, as she went on to break Juvan in her next service game and win the match in under an hour.
However, there's clearly no bad blood between the two as off the court they are close friends, with Swiatek describing Juvan as her 'best friend' on the WTA Tour, while Juvan praised her opponent by calling her 'highly intelligent' and 'honest.'
"You know, I think we both can kind of cut off the off-court friendship and just play our game, and then we are friends back. At least there's nothing crazy is going to happen," Swiatek said ahead of the match.
She will now progress to the fourth round of the US Open, inching closer to defending the title she won in New York last year.
