The 2023
US Open qualifying draw commences on August 22, and this year's edition will include several professional players with ties to college tennis in the United States.
The qualifiers will feature 128 ATP and WTA players, out of which only 16 will earn a main draw spot. Out of the 128 players, 31 have ties in some way to college tennis.
Cressy leading the charge of collegiate players
World No.74 Maxime Cressy will be representing UCLA, whereas Aleks Kovacevic (Illinois), and Gabriel Diallo (Kentucky) are also popular collegiate players. They will face Vit Kopriva, Wu Tung-lin, and Kimmer Coppejans in their respective first-round qualifier matches, all of which are set to take place on Wednesday.
German Open semifinalist Diana Shnaider (NC State), Emina Bektas (Michigan), and Aliona Bolsova (FAU, Oklahoma State) are some of the seeded players on the women's tour, and will also begin their qualifying matches on Wednesday.
