Andy Murray testing out the umpire’s chair “You have a pretty good view from up here.” 😂
While preparing to compete at the Shanghai Masters, Andy Murray saw the court from a new perspective as he tried out the umpire's chair.
The former World No. 1 has previously stated that he is hoping to end the year with some good results on the Asian Swing after a season of highs and lows on the ATP Tour.
The Brit has looked to be on some of his best form since his hip surgery back in 2017 but he faced disappointment at Wimbledon and the US Open when he was ousted in the second round of both Grand Slams.
Unfortunately, his early exits continued into the Zhuhai Championships, where he lost to Aslan Karatsev in the second round, and the China Open where he ended up on the losing side of a close-knit battle with Alex de Minaur during which Murray lost several match points.
Ahead of his first-round match at the Shanghai Masters against Roman Safiullin, a video emerged from Tennis TV of the three-time Grand Slam champion trying out the umpire's chair on one of the courts at the Qizhong Forest Sports City Arena.
Murray is seen sitting down in the chair which then rises to give a view of the court. The 36-year-old then remarked on the wide perspective it gave of the venue.
"You have a pretty good view from up here," he said.
Murray currently has a 1-0 lead in his ATP Tour head-to-head with his first-round opponent Safiullin, having defeated the Russian at the 2022 Swiss Indoors in Basel. However, Safiullin defeated Murray in the first round of the 2021 Rennes Challenger event.
