Jannik Sinner will play in the final of the China Open (Beijing) against Daniil Medvedev after surprising a faded Carlos Alcaraz in two sets 7-6 (7-4), 6-1.
The Italian was much more successful than the Murcian in the important moments of the match. In the first set he was far superior in the deciding tie break and in the second he took advantage of his break chances. This section is being very negative for Alcaraz in recent months: he missed many break chances and ended up paying for it.
A very tough first set between both players with two breaks of serve for each player but that was not decided until the sudden death. Carlitos took 2 of the 4 break balls he had and Sinner 2 of the 3. Both had low efficiencies with their first serves, winning less than sixty percent of the points, hence the two breaks produced in the Diamond Court in Beijing.
The Italian was much more successful at the start of the tie break of the first set and went 4-1 up. Nothing could do the Murcia before the solid serves of the transalpine, who ended up taking the first set 7-6 (7-4 in the tie break). Nothing could do the Murcian before the solid serves of the Italian, who ended up taking the first set 7-6 (7-4 in the tiebreak).
Still dazed after having lost the first set, Carlitos started serving at a low level in the second and Sinner took advantage of it very aggressively in the rest to break from the start and start winning the second set;
The first game on Sinner's serve was very long. Alcaraz had two break chances, which did not materialize, and the Italian put the 2-0 in his favor on the scoreboard. Alcaraz continued wasting break balls on the next serve of Sinner. The Italian was 3-1 up and the Murcian had already missed 7 break points at that point of the match.
In the next game, Jannik Sinner took his first break opportunity and went straight for the victory. He also consolidated that break and was placed 5-1. The Italian was much more successful than the Spaniard in the decisive exchanges of the duel;
Thus, he ended up closing the match by breaking his opponent's serve again (6-1). Alcaraz won only 2 of the 9 break balls he had in the match for 4 of the 7 of the Italian. Sinner will face Daniil Medvedev in the final of the China Open in Beijing;
