Adrian Mannarino is the second Frenchman to win multiple tour titles in a season after a comeback win over Sebastian Korda in the Astana Open Final.
Mannarino sealed a 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 win over Korda after trailing by a set and a break, but he won five consecutive games to level the match before outlasting the American in the decider to seal a fourth tour-level title.
Having won in Newport earlier in the year, he lost previously in the Astana Open title match back in 2020 against John Millman but finally got his revenge winning in two hours and 10 minutes in their Head to Head meeting.
It has been a renaissance with 37 tour-level wins this year surpassing his previous career high in the process of 33 in 2017. He is now one spot from a career-high of No.22. For Korda, it could've been a first title since Parma in 2021.
But it is a fourth tour-level final lost in a row for Korda on hard courts. The lat one saw him hold championship point against Djokovic in Adelaide before losing out.
"At the beginning of the match I was not feeling my best," Mannarino said.
"I was a little tight. And then when I was down in the second set I started to try and enjoy the match and play with less stress. I tried some tough shots and it worked out pretty well. I got a bit lucky to come back in the second set and then in the third set I was feeling better. I am pretty happy with that match."
