One of the most highly anticipated clashes of the opening day at the
Ultimate Tennis Showdown saw
Gael Monfils confront a spectator who had been heckling him in the stands against Frances Tiafoe.
A super entertaining clash saw Tiafoe come from 7-9 down in the first quarter to make it 10-9, tied at 12-12, it was Monfils that came up with the goods as he sealed it 13-12.
It was a lot easier next time around as he rocketed from 6-6 to 9-6 and despite Tiafoe firing back, he closed out the quarter. Tiafoe came back as Monfils started to lose his head.
Busy venting his frustration at the chair umpire to speak with commentators between quarters, he exploded at a crowd member in stunning fashion.
Both locked in, he was heckled and he ran and jumped onto the advertising hoarding to look the spectator straight in the eye who soon stopped.
But Monfils returned to give him a sweat band at the end of the game albeit after he sealed it 3-1.
Yibing Wu, Ben Shelton and Alexander Bublik were also among the winners on Night One thrilling the crowd with comebacks and trick shots.
