With the news that
Serena Williams would be making her comeback to the sport during
Wimbledon, it has been confirmed that she has received a wildcard to play in this year's Singles Draw with the initial allocations announced on Tuesday afternoon.
Williams will also play WTA Eastbourne albeit only in the doubles alongside Ons Jabeur as preparation begins to head to SW19.
Also among the names given wildcards include on the Men's side, a whole host of British names such as Ryan Peniston, Liam Broady and Paul Jubb as well as Katie Boulter, Sonay Kartal and Katie Swan on the Ladies' side.
Joining Williams though in terms of non-British names are
Stan Wawrinka who as of late has made his comeback to the sport on the clay courts and is a two time Quarter-Finalist in the only Grand Slam he has not won.
While Dutch star,
Tim van Rijthoven who shocked the tennis world by winning the Libema Open as a wildcard defeating Daniil Medvedev in the final will also receive a wildcard with one more to be announced on the men's side and two more on the Ladies' side.
