Alexander Zverev will play this week on home soil at the Hamburg European Open, but a storm has engulfed him again on his return to Germany.
Again Zverev has been accused of assault against a former partner with Brenda Patea, the mother of his child requesting a penalty order from the public prosecutors' office in Berlin.
An order which could carry a maximum fine of 450,000 euros, he was of course asked about it pre-tournament and in a brief statement said it would be dealt with and he rejects the claims.
“From my side, I completely reject the allegations. My lawyers will take care of the matter. I won’t say any more than that,” Zverev said at the Hamburg European Open on Monday.
Previously reported by RTL on Friday, the Tiergarten District Court confirmed receipt of the application on July 7 and what Zverev was accused of before it was then widely reported.
In January this year, the ATP said there was insufficient evidence to substantiate allegations surrounding domestic abuse against Zverev made by Olya Sharypova.
Patea said that there was no financial motivation behind the claim and Zverev has consistently denied all allegations. He faces Alex Molcan this week to begin in Hamburg.
