16-year-old standout rising star, Mirra Andreeva will take her spot in the main draw at the China Open which starts today (September 30) in Beijing. She saw off Anna Kalinskaya in a tough tie on paper, but one that saw her win through by retirement.
Andreeva initially saw off Kimberly Birrell and cruised through to the final round of qualifying. Against Kalinskaya who has shown her talent in the past but has been blighted by injuries, it was truly dominant.
She lost only two points on her serve in the entire set hitting 71% of her first serves in. She also converted 3/4 break chances to go 6-0 up and went 3-1 up with eight consecutive points from 1-0 down to build a lead before Kalinskaya had to retire from the contest.
Now Andreeva will be placed in the main draw and could face potentially another qualifier or one of the outside seeds. Also making their way through included US Open standout, Peyton Stearns.
As well as German rising star, Eva Lys and Brit ace Katie Boulter with Yulia Putintseva also booking her spot defeating one of the stories of Roland Garros in Elina Avanesyan.
