#4 Jess Pegula beats #6 Maria Sakkari 6-2, 6-3 to reach the final in Tokyo against #19 Veronika Kudermetova tomorrow. Ends Maria's 7-match winning streak. Jess on her way to Cancún!
World Number Four, Jessica Pegula is into the final of the Toray Pan Pacific Open in Tokyo after seeing off Maria Sakkari on Saturday morning 6-2, 6-3.
Pegula who has defeated Daria Kasatkina and Cristina Bucsa so far this week completed another straight sets win against a player who she has had struggles against in the past. In particular losing in Washington earlier this season.
But despite Sakkari's recent winning form which has seen her win seven matches in a row including Pegula's Guadalajara title which she sealed last year, the run has now come to an end.
That run which comprised seven matches shows that the form is still very much there for the Greek ace, but Pegula moves on and will now face Veronika Kudermetova in tomorrow's final.
Kudermetova defeated Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova earlier today after an intense battle. It is 1-0 in Head to Head to the Russian who won in Madrid earlier this season.
But Pegula will now aim to add a second WTA 1000 title of the season after the disappointment of the US Open, with the American prevailing in Montreal earlier in the season
