2021 WTA Madrid Open Entry List with Barty, Osaka, Halep

The Madrid Open is one of the 9 WTA 1000 events every year and as such always boats as a strong field with 9 of the top 10 players attending in 2021.

The event which was not held in 2020 because of the pandemic is returning in 2021 running from April 29th till May 8th. As a mandatory WTA 1000 even it always has a very strong field of play which will this year be headlined by Bart, Osaka, Halep, and many more of the world's best.

The Magic Box venue always delivers memorable matches and this year won't be any different with 9 of the top 10 players attending. Leading the charge will be world number one who will look to prepare well for the French Open which she won the last time she played there. The event was held last in 2019 and it was Kiki Bertens who lifted the trophy.

She defeated Simona Halep in 2019 at a time where she was a dominant force on tour. Even though she will attend this event nobody really expects Bertens to defend the title as her recovery from a severe knee injury is not going planned ad her tennis is far from good. As a clay event, it is favored by strong clay players such as Simona Halep who won it twice.

It will prove a strong measurement for the world's best heading into the Roland Garros if it indeed goes ahead as planned. Some reports suggested it might get postponed but for now, it's still going ahead. Check out the sensational entry list below.
