The 2022 BNP Paribas Open Indian Wells will run from March 7-20, 2022 and is often regarded as the "fifth Grand Slam" due to it's distinguished history and participation of the tour's top stars.
This year features a star-studded event, with the draw pitching several notable stars against one another in the early rounds. Reigning French Open champion Barbora Krejcikova is the top seed, and could face either Simona Halep or Coco Gauff in the fourth round.
Last year's Wimbledon finalist Karolina Pliskova has not had much match play this season, and could face 2021 US Open champion Emma Raducanu in an exciting fourth round encounter.
The bottom half of the draw sees World No.2 Aryna Sabalenka as the second seed, and if the Belarusian can get past the in-form Viktorija Golubic in the second round, she could potentially face the winner between compatriot and two-time Grand Slam champion Victoria Azarenka and Ukrainian Elina Svitolina.
Greek star Maria Sakkari rounds out the bottom half of the draw, where she could meet another Grand Slam champion in Petra Kvitová. The winner of that match could face either the big-hitting Elise Mertens or the crafty Ons Jabeur in the fourth round.
2018 champion Naomi Osaka received a wildcard to this year's event, and the four-time Grand Slam titlist faces a major first round challenge in the resurgent Sloane Stephens, who is coming off a recent title win in Guadalajara.
