The draw has been confirmed ahead of the 2024 Internationaux de Strasbourg which will take place between 19-25 May, 2024 on the outdoor clay in France and is the usual pre-cursor for Roland Garros.
Sitting on the WTA 500 calendar, it has been the subject in recent days of multiple high profile withdrawals. As for some, their Roland Garros is in doubt in different ways. Jessica Pegula was due to lead this tournament as top seed. She has been injured in recent months so cannot play likely until the grass court season.
While not withdrawing yet from the French Open, it seems unlikely that she will play in Paris. Marketa Vondrousova was drafted in as a late wildcard. With the former Roland Garros finalist and Wimbledon champion receiving a bye through the opening round. She will face Sloane Stephens or a qualifier.
In the same quarter, Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova who is also a Roland Garros finalist opens up against Anhelina Kalinina. With the winner facing Fiona Ferro or a qualifier. Danielle Collins is the next seed down. The American who has been one of the most in-form players on the WTA Tour as of late will continue her retirement tour into Strasbourg. As of late, she has only been defeated by Aryna Sabalenka. First up will be Katerina Siniakova or a qualifier.
She sits in the same section as Elina Svitolina who opens against Diane Parry. With the Ukrainian being defending champion. The winner faces Karolina Pliskova or Clara Burel. Beatriz Haddad Maia is second seed. She also faces a tough opener. Alize Cornet or Emma Navarro, the latter is in the semi-finals in Trophee´ Clarins and is a top 25 player await. In the same section too is the former champion Barbora Krejcikova.
She won the title before sealing Roland Garros. She faces Liudmila Samsonova. The winner faces Leylah Fernandez or Anastasia Potapova. They played in Madrid and will face off again here. Madison Keys is fourth seed and faces Anna Kalinskaya or Xinyu Wang. Emma Raducanu was another main withdrawal. She had to make a decision as Roland Garros qualifying is also next week. With a few alternates remaining, she could feasibly be springboarded into the main draw. But time will tell.
