2024 Libema Open 's-Hertogenbosch WTA Draw including return of Jessica Pegula, Bianca Andreescu and Naomi Osaka

The draw has been released ahead of the Libema Open 's-Hertogenbosch which kicks off the grass court season next week in Rosmalen in Netherlands taking place between June 8-16, 2024 with Jessica Pegula leading as top seed on her tennis return.

Pegula hasn't played since April with the American ace who is usually well known for her consistency on the court getting injured and having a stop start 2024 thus far. She had to withdraw from Roland Garros but always said that she was close to returning and had it been another week she likely would've played in Paris.

But it means that she is perhaps more prepared for grass than others and she comes in raring to go ahead of a busy juncture of the season. Playing Wimbledon, she will then represent the USA at the Olympic Games and then return home for the US Open. So it is pivotal for Pegula to stay injury free and get back on form.

She last played at Billie Jean King Cup anchoring her country to victory over Belgium. But withdrew from the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix afterwards in Stuttgart citing a quick turnaround. On return to the US though, she suffered a setback and has been injured since.

She said at the time that she was likely to miss Roland Garros after withdrawing from Stuttgart and withdrew in the weeks that followed. On her return to action, she will face a qualifier in the first round. Aleksandra Krunic or a qualifier await in the second round. It is a good draw for Pegula with Veronika Kudermetova who is in no form at all the likely seed in her section. She opens up against Zhuoxuan Bai with Arantxa Rus in the second round potentially.

Liudmila Samsonova is second seed and faces Alison van Uytvanck in the first round. Whilst Ekaterina Alexandrova is third seed and also defending champion in this tournament. She faces Arina Rodionova, the current Australian no.1. The winner could face Anna Blinkova. Magda Linette also sits in that section and could take on Clara Tauson or Jule Niemeier.

But the two main players other than Pegula are non seeded. Bianca Andreescu made her big return to the tour during Roland Garros and reached the third round losing to eventual finalist, Jasmine Paolini. Albeit in a game fraught by rain, she put in a good showing in that tie and throughout the tournament. She faces a qualifier in the first round. Then it could be Diana Shnaider or Yue Yuan. Now the immediate switch to grass for a player who has been training for a matter of weeks on clay.

Naomi Osaka also made a big impression during clay and here is another surface that she hasn't had huge success on. But will hope to change that. She faces a tough opener though in Elise Mertens. That is the standout first round. Bernarda Pera potentially awaits the winner and ironically Osaka and Andreescu could be on a collision course in the latter half of the tournament.
