Emma Raducanu recently revealed her excruciating practice routine, which includes double sessions of tennis and gym work. This in attempts for the British star to recapture the form that saw her win the US Open in 2021 on debut.
Raducanu talked about her daily routine with Bazaar and was asked what she likes to do in her spare time. "Scrolling through Reels or TikToks," she said - something a lot of people will be able to relate to. "My ideal day off would be waking up at 8am, reading in bed, then showering and catching up with a friend over some window-shopping or a walk – a day off is the only time I have to do these things."
The 21-year-old's career has been hampered by injuries since her Flushing Meadows triumph. She has won three of her seven matches so far in 2024, but has yet to achieve victory in consecutive tournament games.
Making time
Raducanu admits she's had a lot of time to reflect and wants to prioritise what's best for her away from the court and cameras. "I’d tell my younger self that it’s OK to say ‘no’ and prioritise what feels best for myself, especially in the hours ‘off’," she added.
"Regardless of others’ perceptions, deep down we know when we are doing something truly for ourselves or rather because we feel we ought to."
Raducanu is set to compete at Indian Wells next month. The WTA 1000 event begins on 6 March in California.
