Emma Raducanu was easily beaten by Ons Jabeur who was spellbinding in a 6-4, 6-1 win over the former US Open champion at the 2024
Abu Dhabi Open who produced 35 winners in her best display since Flushing Meadows last year.
Jabeur will now face Beatriz Haddad Maia in the Quarter-Finals, while for Raducanu, it is about moving onto Doha who she credited. But in and amongst the praise was Raducanu admitting that she very much wants to forget the defeat to the Tunisian and move on.
"It was a tough match. Ons is a difficult opponent so credit to her, she played really well and it's just a match that personally I need to forget about," Raducanu said after the match.
"She's a great opponent, she has amazing hand skills, makes life really hard for you on the court and especially with the balls which are really heavy. Her defensive skills are great and I think that's something I can improve on too."
Jabeur herself also had some kind words for Raducanu after sealing the win. “She didn’t make it easy for me. Emma is such an amazing player. I wish her all the best. I know she can play much better. I’m a big fan of her. I’m looking forward to seeing her win more matches. Not against me, but against other players.”
