Former world number one Russia’s
Maria Sharapova talked
about her experience of meeting two special personalities.
The 36-year-old retired from the sport three years back,
much to the surprise of many as she was just 33 years old back then.
Despite ending the on-court career, Sharapova remains very active
off the court and especially on social media.
The Nyagan-born posted a story on her official Instagram
account where she talked about the experience of meeting the former world
number one
Billie Jean King and human rights activist Malala Yousufzai.
“Speaking of impact. Earlier this summer. A pinch me moment
with two extraordinary women at our local favorite pasta spot. An evening of
deep, meaningful, and honest conversation. Of the future and it’s change.
@billiejeanking @malala,” she wrote in her story.
King, who became the top-ranked player in 1966, is one of the
most successful players in the women’s singles category in the Open era, won 12
Grand Slam titles in her illustrious career.
On the other hand, Malala is famous for showing courage during
her school days and challenging the Taliban when they took over the area of Swat in
Pakistan. She was later targeted in a gun attack but luckily survived the assassination
attempt.
