Agent Max Eisenbud has admitted that he owes his career to former world number one Maria Sharapova.
Eisenbud and Sharapova had a long relationship where the two managed to achieve some incredible success on the court.
Talking about it, Eisenbud was of the opinion that all of his success was down to the Russian tennis star.
"You know, I tell people all the time that July 2nd or 3rd, I was some kinda idiot, literally a young agent at IMG,” he said. “Then on July 4th when she won Wimbledon, you know I was trusted into this unbelievable career and life and her life changed, my life changed. So, that was a very special moment that nobody can, no one can ever prepare for.
"I was lucky enough to work with her since she was 11 years old, right time, right place. Built an unbelievable bond with her. I still manage her to this day, 23 years. And everything I have in my career is because of her. That win opened up many doors and opportunities for me and just was really lucky.”
Sharapova had a relatively successful career at the highest level, winning as many as five Grand Slam titles.
Her first triumph came in 2004 when she won the Wimbledon title after beating former world number one America’s Serena Williams in the final with a score of 6-1, 6-4.
Sharapova’s last major triumph came in 2014 when she won the French Open by beating the former world number one Romania’s Simona Halep with a score of 6–4, 6–7(5–7), 6–4.
