Alexandra Eala has put on a show at the Ningbo Open with the Filipina ace easing past Diane Parry to reach the Last 16 and end day one.
Eala won 6-3, 6-1 with the second set in particular super emphatic and all was laid with foundations from the first. Initially she made a surge early on at 3-2 in the first in fact as she broke serve.
But Eala was broken straight back and instead had a back and forth with Parry for the rest of the set albeit the ticking point came at 4-3 when she broke and then held to go one away.

Eala in control

From then onwards, she was in sheer control. She won the next game 6-3 on her second set point to break again and claim the opener. Parry had no answer and she didn't from then on as Eala was easing through the motions.

Eala wins.
The only real alteration to that was towards the back end of the match when Parry finally got on the board in the second claiming a 4-1 deficit, but Eala albeit gave her that by succumbing from 40-15 up and the next game, she broke straight back for 5-1.
She then eased through to a 6-1 victory in the second. Next will be Yulia Putintseva or Diana Shnaider. Albeit unfortunately for Eala, her close friend and a player that has beaten her fairly easily in the past in Iva Jovic likely looms in the Quarter-Finals. She faces either Paolini or Kalinina.
Leylah Fernandez just below her opened her account today seeing off Elise Mertens in another tie of the day. She won 6-2, 3-6, 5-7.
Other victors included Sorana Cirstea 6-3, 6-2 over the qualifier Shi while Aliaksandra Sasnovich saw off Daria Kasatkina 6-4, 6-2.
Victory too for Marie Bouzkova who defeated 6-4, 6-4. Despite Chwalinska deciding last minute not to play this week, it has still been a good start to the week and for Eala, that is very much the case perhaps until she runs into Jovic.
