Caroline Wozniacki saw her match suspended after one set which she won as the former World No.1 was stopped in her tracks completing her opening round against Lin Zhu at Indian Wells. She was also stopped by the wind at times.
She quipped during the match that 'it is impossible to play in this wind'. Rennae Stubbs who formerly played in particular in doubles and coached Serena Williams during the latter half of her career responded to the quote of Wozniacki agreeing with the Dane's sentiments.
"4 of the windiest places on tour. Indian Wells, Miami, Eastbourne & Doha. Almost impossible to play at times in those places because of winds. I didn’t warm up for a final in Indian Wells once because it was too windy, same in Doha. Miami cancelled a day because it was dangerous." said Stubbs on X (formerly known as Twitter).
Players including Liam Broady and Ellen Perez both responded to the tweet also with the latter saying that Cancun should be added to the list after the drama that happened there at the end of last year. While Broady said that Eastbourne on the other hand is legendary, but Indian Wells on the otherhand is infamous due to the amount of cancelled practices. The conditions certainly didn't help Wozniacki with the former Australian Open champion having to return later on Thursday in order to complete her match against Lin Zhu.
So in reality, it was impossible to play in the wind and also the rain as Wozniacki aims to reach the second round amid the early storm in California.
