Former world number 21
Amanda Anisimova has withdrawn from
the 2024
Indian Wells Open. The competition will be played next month.
As per the latest report, the 22-year-old has announced that
she will not going to be taking part in the mega-event next month. There has
been no reason given officially as to why she will miss the competition.
This is not the first time when Anisimova has decided to
miss a competition as she took an indefinite break from tennis in May last year
for her mental well-being. The recent development will be a major setback for
the player as well as her fans who were excited to see more of the player after
a lengthy break.
The New Jersey-born returned to professional tennis after a
gap of nearly seven months and took part in the ASB Classic in Auckland. Her journey
ended after losing in the second round of the competition to the Czech Republic’s
Marie Bouzkova in straight sets with a score of 6-0, 6-1.
Anisimova then took part in the Australian Open 2024 as well
where had a relatively good outing and was eventually knocked out after losing
in the fourth round to the current world number two and the reigning champion in
straight sets with a score of 6-3, 6-2.
