Former world number 21 Amanda Anisimova has withdrawn from the 2024 Indian Wells Open. The competition will be played next month.
As per the latest report, the 22-year-old has announced that she will not going to be taking part in the mega-event next month. There has been no reason given officially as to why she will miss the competition.
This is not the first time when Anisimova has decided to miss a competition as she took an indefinite break from tennis in May last year for her mental well-being. The recent development will be a major setback for the player as well as her fans who were excited to see more of the player after a lengthy break.
The New Jersey-born returned to professional tennis after a gap of nearly seven months and took part in the ASB Classic in Auckland. Her journey ended after losing in the second round of the competition to the Czech Republicโ€™s Marie Bouzkova in straight sets with a score of 6-0, 6-1.
Anisimova then took part in the Australian Open 2024 as well where had a relatively good outing and was eventually knocked out after losing in the fourth round to the current world number two and the reigning champion in straight sets with a score of 6-3, 6-2.
