an impeccable 90.9% win rate (10-1), surpassing the likes of Serena Williams
(87%), Iga Swiatek (81.8%), Aryna Sabalenka (81.3%), and Kiki Bertens (78.9%).
The
world No. 9 has had an inconsistent 2024 season, suffering four consecutive
first-round defeats (Doha, Indian Wells, Miami, and Charleston). Additionally,
she had not secured back-to-back victories since the WTA 250 Ningbo Open in
October 2023, where she clinched her first hardcourt title.
Jabeur's return to Madrid reignites her tennis prowess
Her
last appearance in Madrid was in 2022 when she captured the title by defeating
Jessica Pegula in the final. Notably, she overcame tough opponents like Belinda

In her

- If there is some other reason, like exhaustion or self-preservation by not playing in consecutive tourneys, then simply say so. There's no shame in self preservation. Since the WTA obviously does not seriously consider a player's physical and mental stress as they schedule back-to-back majors, it's okay to adhere to such a healthy agenda and admit it. The illness thing is kind of suspect at this point; if only because of the timing pattern.

Is it truly an illness causing these withdrawals? It may be helpful -- even encouraging -- for others whom also suffer whatever illness is ongoing here to know what she is dealing with; and how.
