Wimbledon fines were confirmed with
Novak Djokovic fined the same amount as 16-year-old prodigy
Mirra Andreeva for racquet smashes.
Albeit comparatively different with Andreeva being fined $8000 for a racquet bounce on the grass and loss of balance.
While Djokovic hurled his racquet and smashed it against the net post with a huge dent left and many remarked that it was pocket change for the record breaking Grand Slam champion.
Many also called out Andreeva being fined the same amount for seemingly an accident compared to doing it by force in Djokovic's racquet smash.
Albeit both are mere pocket change out of their prize purse albeit a big talking point.
"Mirra’s fine is utterly ridiculous. It’s clear to see there was no intent with what she did.Novak’s was deliberate and the fine is correct based on the rules. However, 8k is no deterrent to a man who makes 10’s of millions a year. That rule definitely needs changing," one user wrote.
"Mirra is young enough to learn the lesson if the penalty is pitched right. Djokovic is well past that point and can pay any fine without even noticing. Suspended suspension penalty would have been better," another user tweeted.
"Total joke, especially when seen as a percentage of each player's total assets/earnings. £8k is pocket change for Djokovic."
