Amanda Anisimova scored another huge win this season as she dumps out Aryna Sabalenka from the Charleston Open 3-6 6-4 6-3.
The American player had a rather weak Sunshine double especially after playing rather well this season. There were some injury concerns and other stuff but now, Anisimova is back to winning matches. Her opponent, Sabalenka, stopped her losing streak yesterday with a win but it lasted only shortly as she lost today despite winning the first set.
Sabalenka started off well controlling the pace of the match rather well. She was serving well which is always a bonus and generally dominating rallies against Anisimova. The American lost her serve twice and while she was able to pull back one break ultimately it was not enough 4-6. The 2nd set is where Sabalenka started having serious issues.
She served poorly only hitting 48 % of her first serves and obviously, that gave Anisimova plenty of chances. She played much better generally and was the dominant player in rallies this time around. It proved more than enough to win the set with 6-4. The final set was a very similar one but Sabalenka played a bit better. Even so, Anisimova was still on top as she cruised to a 6-3 finish.
