Ashleigh Barty started off her 2021 Madrid Open campaign in style crushing Shelby Rogers 6-2 6-1 in 61 minutes of play.
It was a sheer display of dominance from Ashleigh Barty who defeated Shelby Rogers at the Madrid Open to move on to the next round. The match lasted only 61 minutes and it was Barty win 6-2 6-1. The Australian showed some of the same levels that saw her lift the title in Stuttgart last week.
Rogers gave it her best but she was no match for Barty who looked comfortable playing in conditions that she experienced last week. Rogers had a strong campaign in Australia but ever since that result, the American has failed to string together good performances.
Barty was impeccable on her own serve dropping only six points in the entire match not allowing a single break point. On her opponents serve she was too strong as well winning 6 of the 10 break points she got.
Barty will have a tough task in R2 where she will either face clay-court specialist Zindasek or Hsieh who is always a challenge.
