Belinda Bencic smashes Bianca Andreescu at Roland Garros

A very interesting matchup happened today at Roland Garros and it was Belinda Bencic who emerged victorious in that one 6-2 6-2.

It was not a very good match by Bianca Andreescu who has shown a rather good level on cay these past weeks. After all, nobody came as close as Andreescu to winning a set against Swiatek in recent months and on clay, that's an achievement. It wasn't that much terrible from Andreescu as much as Bencic was simply too good.

Especially on serve, Bencic dominated rather easily dropping only three points on her first serve. She jumped out to an early lead and held it from there. It was a deflating moment for Andreescu who seemed to be in good spirits before the match but that early break kind of sucked all energy from here.

The 2nd set was quite similar as Bencic jumped out to an early 2-0 lead. Andreescu then lost her serve once more to give Bencic the 4-0 lead. Bencic made it 5-1 not long after that but eventually, Andreescu was able to take advantage of a lapse in focus by the Swiss player and make it 5-4 putting Belinda under a lot of pressure.

It was a very tight game at 5-4 for both with Bencic serving for the set. Andreescu had a one break point in that game but failed to use it with Bencic using only her 3rd match point to seal the deal. Complications at the end but Bencic moves on at the French Open.
