Eugenie Bouchard seems similarities between herself and
Emma Raducanu as the Brit is going through what the Canadian went through several years ago.
Just like Raducanu, Bouchard rose quickly to fame by making the Wimbledon final as a very young player. Though she didn't manage to win the event, Bouchard saw herself become very popular among fans with the media swarming her at every event. There were also negatives in that, as she got a lot of hate on social media whenever her focus didn't seem to be on tennis. Raducanu gets the same treatment as her comments are flooded with people calling out her recent poor performances.
Asked about the Brit, Bouchard said:
“I see lots of similarities. I
feel for her in that sense. She has a great life, she’s set for life
and she’s had great achievements. But I can understand a little bit,
possibly the pressure, the scrutiny. She
tweeted something, posted something about not doing tennis one day and
people were like, ‘why don’t you go practise’. I was like, ‘oh, my God, I
went through that six, eight years ago’.
Bouchard than added that ultimately whatever you do, you will still get hate:
“Haters will hate, you know what I mean?”
