Early results are in on the Women's side of the draw at the Western & Southern Open on the third day of action with Marie Bouzkova and Johanna Konta among the winners.
Bouzkova produced a fantastic display to see off Petra Kvitova, the sixth seed in a 2-6, 7-5, 6-2 victory to continue her form as of late.
The latter looked strong for 90 minutes until the final set; when Bouzkova raised her game to sweep past the final set 6-2 in a match which lasted just over two and a half hours.
The performance included four break points converted and 6/9 saved from Bouzkova; as well as 69% on her 1st serve points won.
Konta bounced back after defeat to Bouzkova at the Top Seed Open in Lexington easing past Kirsten Flipkens with ease 6-2, 6-0 in just over an hour; with five aces, five breaks and 77% of 2nd serve points won.
Next will be 2010 US Open finalist, Vera Zvonareva who after defeating Magda Linette in round one swept aside Laura Siegemund 6-1, 6-1.
Jessica Pegula continued her fine form also and after defeating Jennifer Brady, she saw off Amanda Anisimova 7-5, 6-2 and will next face Cici Bellis or Aryna Sabalenka.
