Early results are in on the Men's side of the draw at the Western & Southern Open with defending champion Daniil Medvedev through with victory over Marcus Giron.

Medvedev eased past qualifier Giron in a 6-4, 6-4 win for a place in the third round in the Russian's first tour-level match since 21 February; when the Russian lost out to Gilles Simon in the Quarter-Finals in Marseille.
He broke serve on his third break point at 2-2 and later missed out on clinching the set 6-3; when Giron saved a set point. However one game later, Medvedev concluded the opener.
He took control at 2-1 up in the next set and consolidated the service break by saving three break points. Overall he hit 16 winners and committed only three errors on his forehand in a brilliant display. Next up will be Aljaz Bedene who recovered from 1-3 down in the first set to defeat Taylor Fritz.
Tennys Sandgren is also through coming from a set down to defeat Felix Auger-Aliassime in a 6-7(3), 6-2, 7-6 (2) win. It was a marathon victory for the American; who won in just under three hours against the 15th seed.
Dan Evans after his brilliance against Andrey Rublev though is out after suffering defeat to Milos Raonic 6-3, 7-5. The latter hit 23 aces on his way to victory; as Evans missed out on a potential all-British meeting with Andy Murray.
Karen Khachanov is also through after defeating Pablo Carreno-Busta 7-6(8), 6-1. After an epic tie-break, he went on to make light work of the Spaniard. He faces either Richard Gasquet or Roberto Bautista-Agut.
