After a spectacular start to the 2021 season that saw her lift the title in Parma and reach her maiden Grand Slam quarterfinal at
Roland Garros,
Coco Gauff has reached another milestone as she's set to represent the United States at the upcoming
Olympic Games in Tokyo.
The 17-year old claimed her spot after advancing past the fourth round at the
French Open, achieving the goal she set last year of qualifying for the Olympics.
Gauff will join fellow Americans
Sofia Kenin,
Serena Williams and
Jennifer Brady on the US team, as they all compete for singles gold in Tokyo this summer. Williams was the last American player, male or female, to win the singles gold medal for the United States, claiming first place at the 2012 games in London.
The Tokyo Olympic Games will run from July 23-August 8 2021.
