Coco Gauff had a slow start but found her rhythm in time to ease past Martina Trevisan 6-3 6-1 for her maiden grand slam final at Roland Garros.
The match had a very interesting being as we saw 5 losses of serve in the first 7 games. Neither player was able to hold their serve until Gauff finally did it. The American could have done it far quicker but she complicated things as she usually does. Eventually, she was able to finish off the job 6-3 in the opening set thanks to her athleticism.
Gauff was simply everywhere on the court and had she been a bit better from the baseline she should have finished this match off quicker. It wasn't a particularly well-played set by either of them. Gauff had 4 winners and 15 unforced errors with Trevisan having 8 and 22.
The 2nd set opened with Trevian taking a MTO for a leg injury but it did not make that much difference. Both played a little bit better in the 2nd set but Gauff was once again more superior. She was simply too much to overcome for Trevisan who could not outhit her from the baseline. Gauff was too quick to ever ball and it frustrated Trevisan quite a bit. She finished off with 6-1 in the 2nd set.
