Emma Raducanu has chosen her coach for Indian Wells as she continues searching for a full-time trainer. Still looking for a new partnership following her split from Nick Cavaday—who, according to ESPN, stepped away due to health reasons—the British player is once again facing the challenge of finding a long-term coach.

For now, Raducanu is taking things in stride and has decided on the coach who will guide her during her time in California. She will be working with Slovakian coach Vlado Platenik, who will be on trial this week at Tennis Paradise alongside the Brit. The 49-year-old coach has previously worked with Daria Kasatkina, Dominika Cibulkova, Anna Blinkova, and Veronika Kudermetova.

Until recently, Platenik was coaching New Zealand’s Lulu Sun, one of the breakout players of the 2024 season after reaching the Wimbledon quarterfinals—defeating Raducanu along the way.

The Slovakian coach has repeatedly praised Sun, stating: “I don’t want to jinx it, but Lulu is fantastic. It is easy to work with her, but she also needed more self-confidence, which was missing a bit. But it’s coming from her character, and for me, it’s important to try to build her confidence while maintaining the kindness she has.”

Initially, it was reported that Raducanu would be working with Tom Welsh as an interim coach. However, according to Express, the Brit ultimately opted to compete with Platenik over the next few weeks, considering the possibility of a longer-term collaboration.
