It was one of the shortest days in China this year if not the shortest on the courts at the WTA Finals. In the first match, Simona Halep and Elina Svitolina fought for another point.
Svitolina entered a match better leading early 3-0, but Halep leveled the score. However, later in the set Svitolina won 6 points in a row to win the set 7-5. In the second set, Halep was already leading 2-1 having a break. But Svitolina won 5 out of the following 6 games to win also the second set. Svitolina now has 2 points and a secured spot in the semifinals.
After just 100 minutes, second match could begin. Karolina Pliskova and Bianca Andreescu fought for gettining closer to the semifinal seat. But the match did not last long. After Pliskova won the first set 6-3, Andreescu retired and she can no longer advance.
