Day 4 results at the Guangzhou Open, Kenin moves to the semi-finals

In the first Thursday match, former world number four Sam Stosur managed to tie a H2H record with Nina Stojanovic, when she lost to her in Nanchang a week ago. Stosur won the first set 6-2, but in the second she was already losing 0-5 and 15-40. Despite facing 6 set balls, she was able to turn the set and win the match.

In the second match Viktorija Golubic took care of dropping next seeded player Shuai Zhang. The Swiss player won the match after almost 2 and a half hours 6-3, 3-6 and 6-4.

Anna Blinkova has extended her winning streak to 8 matches by conquering Maria Bouzkova, who was able to deal with Elina Svitolina in the second round. Blinkova will meet Sofia Kenin, the last seeded player at the tournament in the semifinals.

Kenin comfortably won her match by winning 12 out of the following 14 games from 1-4 in the first set to secure her place in the semifinals as the only seeded player.
