As the WTA season heads towards its conclusion, the
Hong Kong Open will end proceedings with the WTA 250 being the final action before the WTA Finals. The
draw is now set.
Leylah Fernandez is defending champion in Hong Kong with a return to form this time last year. She will face off against Heather Watson in the opening round with Ana Bogdan or Kimberly Birrell in the second round.
Diana Shnaider is top seed and will face a qualifier in the first round. She lost in the semi-finals of the Pan Pacific Open to Qinwen Zheng. Priscilla Hon could await in the second round.
Katie Boulter is second seed who also lost in the semi-finals in Tokyo. She could face Wang Xiyu in the second round.
Simona Halep will also make her return to main draw WTA action for the first time since Miami earlier this season. She played the WTA 125 in Hong Kong held last month. She opens up against Yue Yuan. Sofia Kenin who will play in that final against Qinwen Zheng in Tokyo will also make the trip to Hong Kong. She faces Jessika Ponchet or Wang Xinyu.
