Emma Raducanu endured another marathon match in 2022 with the British player throwing away a win in the 2nd consecutive event, this time at the
Miami Open.
It lasted close to three hours with
Katerina Siniakova emerging victorious. It was a match quite similar to many others that the Brit played this year and once again she was not able to close out the match. In the first set, Raducanu had the upper hand from the start.
Siniakova had a minor issue that required an MTO but she continued to play on. The Brit won the opening set with 6-3 and appeared on the verge of securing the victory when she took a 2-0 lead in the 2nd set. She held it until 3-1 when Siniakova turned it up and made it 3-3. The Czech player went further by using a lapse in focus from Raducanu to snatch away the 2nd set with 6-4.
Raducanu was very upset with herself as she had a break point at 4-4 which could have been crucial. She lost her serve when she served to remain in the set. The 3rd set started in an identical manner as Raducanu was once again up 2-0. She did not hold it for too long as Siniakova battled back. Raducanu took another break not long after that taking a 5-3 lead.
At 5-4 she served for the match and just like in the match at Indian Wells two weeks ago, Raducanu fell apart when it mattered the most. Siniakova made it 5-5, then took a 6-5 lead and finished off the job 7-5.
