Emma Raducanu has reportedly split up from her billionaire boyfriend, Carlo Agostinelli ahead of her tilt at the grass court season which begins over the next week in Nottingham.
Raducanu decided against playing Roland Garros last month withdrawing from qualifying in order to pursue the grass court season. But it seems like that wasn't the only alteration for the former US Open champion.
The tennis star started dating Agostinelli last May who is the son of Robert Agostinelli who is the co-founder and chairman of private equity firm Rhone Group. His mother is also involved in Dior who sponsor the British star. The pair were spotted arm in arm at Paris Fashion Week and have been on holiday together since with Raducanu spending most of the last year off injured. But they have now gone their separate ways.
According to the report by The Sun, Raducanu called it quits seemingly by blocking him on all social media. “Emma has 2.4million followers on Instagram but Carlo is no longer one of them, a source from The Sun said. “It seems their relationship has run its course.”
She previously spoke as of late in an interview with The Times about her parents resenting her from having a boyfriend when she was younger and going as far as banning her from even seeing her girlfriends in order to focus on making it in the sport. "My parents were very much against [boyfriends] as it interfered with training. When I was younger I wasn’t even allowed to hang out with my girl friends," she said.
"A lot of the time I was very resentful. But it made me very confident and comfortable in my own company, which is also a big strength."
She opens up in Nottingham next week against a qualifier with Marta Kostyuk who is the second seed up likely in the second round. Also after playing in the East Midlands city, she will head to Eastbourne in the intervening weekend and could feasibly join the line-up also for Birmingham if she loses early in Nottingham. With the gamble to skip the French Open, she will hope it pays off and now with this break-up won't have any distractions in plotting her course.
