The Asian swing of the WTA calendar will be in full swing when the 2024 Toray
Pan Pacific Open begins, as the celebrated event is scheduled to run from October 21-27, 2024.
A WTA 500 event, the Pan Pacific Open has an impressive list of former champions. Japanese superstar
Naomi Osaka won the trophy at her home event in 2019, and the four-time Grand Slam champion is set to compete at this year's edition. Former World No.1's Caroline Wozniacki and Karolina Pliskova have also lifted the prestigious title.
Pegula to lead American contingent to Tokyo
Following her runner-up finish at the 2024 US Open,
Jessica Pegula will be hoping keep her momentum going as she is slated to compete in Tokyo as the top seed. The American will be joined by compatriots Emma Navarro and
Danielle Collins, with the latter having already announced her retirement for the end of the season.
China's
Zheng Qinwen will be competing at the event, and this year's Australian Open finalist will be vying for the title alongside Wimbledon champion Barbora Krejcikova and former US Open runner-up Leylah Fernandez. Spaniard Paula Badosa will hope to end her comeback season on a positive note in Tokyo, whereas Russian Diana Shnaider will look to improve on her breakout season.
