Britain’s tennis star
Emma Raducanu believes that the change
of ball has made it difficult for the players to perform at the highest level.
The impact of the change of balls has been highlighted by a
number of current and former players in the recent past. Some of the active players raised objections about the difficulty they faced while playing with the
new balls.
Raducanu has become the latest player to raise concerns about
the change of balls and stated that it has become ‘really bad’ for the players.
“I honestly think it’s really bad for us,” she said. “The
way that we have to switch balls every single week and especially when you’ve
gone through surgeries.
“I know a lot of players who are struggling with wrist
problems, too. I don’t understand why every other sport is pretty much the
same, whereas in tennis it’s different week to week.”
Raducanu has struggled
with injuries over the last few years and only recently made her way back to
the court. The former world number 10 took part in the ongoing
Indian Wells
where her journey finally came to an end in the round of 32 where she lost to
the current world number two Belarus’ Aryna Sabalenka in straight sets with a
score of 6-3, 7-5.
