Some of the main matches as the first week of the US Open concludes are complete with Roger Federer, Johanna Konta and Grigor Dimitrov moving through.
Federer will face off against Dimitrov after strolling past David Goffin in a 6-2, 6-2, 6-0 victory and is into his 56th Grand Slam Quarter-Final.
The Swiss ace has grown into this tournament after his early worries and he showed that extending his run against the player who has openly called him his idol with most of the ten meetings going the way of Federer.
Goffin was pressuring the serve of Federer early to potentially go 2-1 up but barring that it was very much the only chance of note the Belgian got.
Federer gave the Belgian a glimmer of hope in the requisite set double faulting to hand back the break immediately but like the first set, he wasn't able to give Federer the pressure allowing him to run away with it.
Case in point was the final set when he only claimed seven points overall in a match he will definitely want to forget.

Dimitrov returns to form but has tough task next
His next opponent Dimitrov is of course a fearsome opponent when he is at his best but he is coming back from injury and he claimed a scalp in his return in Alex de Minaur.
He ended up winning 7-5, 6-3, 6-4 taking a lone break in each set to defeat the Aussie. For the Bulgarian ace, he will hope it is a turning point in his comeback but watching the performance of his next opponent, it will be a big step in his recovery to face him no mind beat him.
Despite that after arriving to Flushing Meadows with a 7-13 record since the Australian Open, the sight of Grigor back to his best will please his fans no end.

Konta does the business to dispel poor record against Pliskova
Over in the Women's draw,
Johanna Konta is through banishing her poor record against Karolina Pliskova with the Brit showing the brilliant form she is in at the moment.
Konta fought from a set and a break down to win 6-7, 6-3, 7-5 and next up will be Elina Svitolina or Madison Keys in what is bound to be a brilliant clash no matter who she faces.
In the first set, she missed chances to claim it but it was the second set where she began to find her feet fully punishing a poor performance at times from Pliskova who hit nine double faults throughout.
It was the winners that did it for the first British woman to reach the Quarter-Finals in New York since Jo Durie in 1983 with 45 in all the telling stat.
