Canadian tennis star
Leylah Fernandez has confirmed she will be teaming with
Taylor Townsend in the doubles event at the 2023
Roland Garros tournament.
The duo began their partnership at Indian Wells this year, reaching the second round. Subsequently, they reached the final in Miami, becoming a crowd-favorite in the process.
Following their on-court success and chemistry, it came as no surprise that they are teaming up for Roland Garros. Fernandez confirmed the decision during an Instagram Q&A session, when asked if she would participate in the doubles event at the French Open.
"Yes!! With Taylor!!" she responded.
Fernandez opened up about their decision to form a partnership, stating talks began this year in Australia.
"I think we started talking in Australia. In Australia, we started talking and then once the Middle East hit, Taylor [Townsend] asked me if we wanted to play in Indian Wells and Miami. Of course, I said yes, why would I say no!" she said in an interview with Tennis Channel.
