Petra Kvitova has announced the birth of her twin daughters, marking a new chapter in her life following
her recent retirement from professional tennis. The two-time Wimbledon champion confirmed the news through social media, revealing the names Emma and Ella, born on March 30 in Prague.
The 36-year-old Czech has largely kept her private life away from the spotlight in recent years. As with her first pregnancy, Kvitova chose not to publicly disclose details until after the birth, maintaining a low profile throughout. The twins join her son Petr, born on July 7, 2024, making Kvitova a mother of three.
According to local reports, the birth took place shortly after 1 p.m. at a maternity hospital in Prague, with both the mother and the newborns in good health. A spokesperson for the Czech Tennis Association confirmed that “Petra and both girls are doing well,” baccording to
Sport CZ.
The announcement comes less than a year after Kvitova formally stepped away from tennis, closing a career that spanned over a decade at the top level. Her final appearance came in 2025, shortly before announcing her first pregnancy, effectively bringing an end to her time on tour.
Kvitova leaves behind one of the most accomplished careers of her generation. She reached a career-high ranking of World No. 2 and claimed 31 WTA titles, including her standout victories at Wimbledon in 2011 and 2014. Known for her aggressive left-handed game, she was also a key figure in the Czech Republic’s Billie Jean King Cup success.
Her return to competition was briefly considered following motherhood, but injuries and shifting priorities ultimately led her to step away permanently. Now, with the arrival of Emma and Ella, Kvitova’s focus is firmly outside the court.
